The short-term answer is simple: check the engine oil. If your home standby generator has been running for a few days — and you expect it to be running for at least a few more — turn it off long enough to check the engine oil. If it’s low, top it off with the oil recommended in the owner’s manual. Then turn it back on again. Do this every 24 hours until utility power returns.
But you should consult your owner’s manual for the complete maintenance schedule, and perform any routine maintenance required during and after operation. If you’re uncertain, contact us and we would be happy to help.
Happy Thanksgiving!
